FindLife ("FindLife", "we", "us", or "our"), operated by Jason Baratta, provides a location-based social app for discovering nearby posts, meetups, and people. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, how it's shared, and the choices you have. By using FindLife you agree to this Policy.
Account information. When you create an account you provide either an email address (email sign-up) or use an anonymous "guest" account. Every account has a randomly generated internal identifier and a randomly generated display name (e.g., "Blue Fox 27"). You may optionally add a username, short bio, age, profile photo, and interests.
Approximate location. With your permission, we access your device's location only while you are using the app (never in the background) to show you nearby content. We immediately coarsen your location — snapping it to an approximately 0.7-mile grid — and store only that approximate point together with a city label. We never store or display your exact coordinates. Other users only ever see your city and a rounded distance (e.g., "2 miles away").
Content you create. Posts (text and photos), comments, meetups, private messages, "Who's Down?" availability, interests, and likes.
Interactions. Expressions of interest, matches, blocks, and reports you make.
Photos and media. Photos you upload for your profile or posts are stored in our cloud storage.
Technical and log data. Basic information needed to operate and secure the service (for example, IP address and timestamps used for authentication and abuse prevention), handled by our infrastructure provider.
What we do NOT do. We do not sell your personal information, show third-party advertising, use third-party advertising or analytics trackers, or send push notifications (notifications appear inside the app only). If any of this changes, we will update this Policy and, where required, ask for your consent.
With other users. Your display name/username, profile photo, bio, interests, city, approximate distance, and the posts, comments, and meetups you create are visible to nearby users. Once a conversation is unlocked (a mutual match or an accepted meetup request), your messages are shared with that person. Your email address, exact location, and age are never shown to other users.
With service providers. We use Supabase (database, authentication, storage, and hosting) to operate the app, and Apple Maps to display maps. These providers process data on our behalf.
For legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
We do not sell your personal information.
Location access is foreground-only and used solely to place you among nearby content. We coarsen it on our servers and retain only the approximate point plus a city label. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device's Settings; some features (nearby feed, people, meetups) will not work without it.
We keep your content until you delete it or delete your account. Deleting your account removes your profile and associated content. Some items expire automatically (for example, "Who's Down?" availability). Limited operational logs and backups may persist for a short period for security and reliability.
We protect your data with database Row-Level Security, server-side location coarsening, encryption in transit, and restricted server-side keys that are never included in the app. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
FindLife is intended for people 17 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we will delete it.
Your information may be processed in the country where our service providers operate (for example, the United States). By using FindLife, you consent to this transfer, storage, and processing.
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here and, where appropriate, highlighted in the app. Your continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
